From the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada and the Canadian Journal of Physiology and Pharmacology, 2001: A research team studied the hypothesis that caffeine ingestion leads to higher glucose and higher insulin levels. Study participants ingested caffeine followed by a glucose tolerance test (GTT)one hour later. The researchers noted that the participants' insulin levels rose. The researchers concluded that caffeine ingestion may contribute to insulin resistance.
