Increased Prevalence of Insulin Resistance In Women with A History of Recurrent Pregnancy Loss (Journal Abstract) Added on: 9/17/2002 Hits: 18
From the University of Tennessee at Memphis and the journal Fertility and Sterility, 2002: The researchers compared 74 non-diabetic women who DID NOT have PCOS but had experienced multiple miscarriages with a group of women who had given birth to at least one live infant. Both groups were assessed for the presence of insulin resistance by testing for fasting insulin levels and glucose levels. The miscarriage group was found to be nearly 3 times more likely to be insulin resistant. Twenty-seven percent of the miscarriage group and 9.5% of the non-miscarriage group were diagnosed as insulin resistant.

From University of Alma Mater in Studiorum in Bologna, Italy and the International Journal of Obesity, 2002: These Italian researchers confirmed the connection between high insulin levels and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS).
